Arisen
In a world lost to mutual magical destruction the only thing left is the dead and a ruined planet, and the dead have arisen!
You are the Arisen, a lich newly woken in a tomb at the edge of a dead world. Scavenge the ruins for bones, stitch them into skeletal constructs, and send your horde into battle. Push out from your crypt as far as you can before you fall.
How to play
- The crypt is home. Rise from your sarcophagus, then visit the Forge altar to build constructs, the Bone Works to manage and rune-carve your troops, the Perk shrine and the Gear rack. Leave by the crypt door.
- The world map is a hex field of ruins around your crypt. The further out, the stronger everything gets.
- Explore a ruin tile by tile through the ash fog. Click any revealed tile to travel there. Bone piles and caches give cards. Enemy camps roam, and some hunt you. The guarded exit clears the ruin.
- Build at the Forge. Every construct needs four bone cards: a Body (frame and health), a Heart (damage and speed), a Mind (how it fights: guard, hunt the weak, heal, or cast fire, frost and storm) and a Soul (a special trait). Fuse four of a kind into a stronger card.
- Battles fight themselves. You choose who marches (your army fights; units stored in the ossuary stay home), play relics at the right moment (Mend, Hellfire, Bone Wall, Haste), and when your lich's body falls, you pick which of your skeletons it leaps into.
- Death is not the end. Your bone library, the troops stored in the ossuary and a little of your soul carry over. Rise again and go further.
Controls
Plays on phones in landscape; desktop with a mouse is recommended.
- Mouse: click to select, move and use. Drag cards onto their sockets in the Forge (and back to the library to return them).
- Mouse wheel: zoom. Right-drag: pan. C: re-centre the camera.
- F2 or the quill button: leave a playtest note.
- Phones and tablets: plays on phones in landscape; desktop with a mouse is recommended. Tap once to see what something is, tap again to use it; drag cards in the Forge; pinch to zoom, two fingers to pan, and the target button re-centres the camera.
Playtest
This is a playtest build. Please press F2 (or the quill button) whenever something is confusing, broken, too hard, too easy, or fun. Your note and a screenshot come straight to me. Thank you!
About the jam
Made for Revival Jam 2026. Arisen revives an idea I carried for years and never wrote down: a VR chimera builder where you assemble creatures from parts and send them to fight in an arena. The chimeras became bone constructs, the arena became the ruins of a dead world, and the builder became a lich who has just risen. The four parts of every construct (Body, Heart, Mind and Soul) are the jam's four judging criteria.
